Surprise Gator from 1125 Dundas Street East (Mississauga)…
Mr. Rabbit called from his Mississauga office to say he had a present for me. I was immediately concerned. Mr. Rab isn’t the type to bring home flowers or chocolate. Last time he had a “surprise” for me he handed over a butchered rabbit from the St. Lawrence Market. It was admittedly delicious with mustard sauce, but a dead bun in a bag wasn’t exactly on my Amazon wish list…
This time around, Mr. Rabbit brought me a large flat box containing a bread alligator. Said bread-gator was produced at the bakery in his office plaza.
We don’t remember the name of the bakery, but it’s the new one at 1125 Dundas Street East between the Subway and Pho Dau Bo. The gator had fat limbs, a heart-shaped head, and he was very golden and squishy.
Once dismembered, the bread itself was soft and white and stayed quite nice and fresh in a ziploc for about three days.
Mr. Rabbit is a thrifty shopper, so at 5:00 he was able to procure this gator for $5, marked down $7.50… a screaming bargain. Also available are $1 bread lobsters and $5 bread rabbits. Note that Mr. Rab initially wanted one of those bread-rabbits, but helpful staff kindly suggested that they were a bit stale so he really ought to go with the gator.
